Sew Thankful Sunday, 11-11-12

If you missed last week, I’ve started a new series called “Sew Thankful Sunday”.  I like to feature ideas that I’ve seen on the internet over the past week and that I think you might enjoy.  I may also include little (or big) things in my own life that I’m thankful for.

I’m starting to focus on the holidays (finally – I can’t keep up!) and I’ve seen some great ideas for gift giving. Check out this mug rug from Pleasant Home:

Sew cute, don’t you think? Jodi of Pleasant Home gives a fabulous tutorial on how to make this on her blog, too.  Definitely on my Christmas “to make” list.

I’ve been following the Sew, Mama, Sew! November Handmade Holidays series and I’m SEW thankful for all of the great inspiration!

Every day during the month of November, Sew, Mama, Sew! will feature a different category of handmade gifts to inspire you. Here’s the line up so far:

9 ~ Deck the Halls
8 ~ Gifts for Cooks
7 ~ Gifts for Pet Lovers
6 ~ Gifts for Moms + Grandmas
5 ~ Gifts for Tweens + Teens
4 ~ Gifts for Organizers
3 ~ Gifts for Travelers
2 ~ Deck the Halls
1 ~ Gifts for Little Kids

Make sure to check out the 2011 Handmade Holidays list for more great ideas.

I’m always looking for easy things to make and give from my kitchen.  Here’s something I saw recently at I {heart} Nap Time:

Peppermint Brownie Mix in a Jar from Skip to My Lou

Peppermint brownie mix in a jar sounds like a winner to me.  Cindy of Skip to my Lou is the original creator of this yummy treat.  She was guest posting this idea at I {heart} Nap Time and both of these blogs are full of great ideas for home made gifts and holiday crafts.  I encourage you to visit both of them!

There’s a new “row along” in town and it’s being presented by Lori of Bee in My Bonnet.  Actually, it started in September and there’s still a long ways to go, so it’s not too late to join in.

Lori will give a new row tutorial every two weeks until the spring. The rows will be flowers, spools, apples, fall leaves, mittens, mugs, baskets and butterflies.  There will also be rows of small traditional blocks in between.

This week’s row is mugs (I’m thinking hot cocoa) and they are so cute:

Lori’s tutorials are very well done and perfect for any skill level.  You can find all of the details here.

And finally, I’m thankful for the new lighting that is being installed in my sewing room (as I speak blog)!  I can’t wait to show you, but it’s an ongoing deal.  I’ll probably have it all finished and cutesie by January!

Have a great and inspired week!

~Julie
