WIP Wednesday

Here’s what I’m working on so far today….

FQS Block 6 at The Crafty Quilter

I love it when I finish a seam that has some points that are supposed to match up and they actually do!  This is what I’m talking about….

I’m astonished when it looks that good!

Here are all of my blocks from the Fat Quarter Shop 2012 Designer Mystery BOM:

FQS Blocks thru 6 @ The Crafty Quilter

They look so pretty together and now I’m motivated to finish blocks 7 through 9.  We’ll see how long that lasts!

I used a new tool for the flying geese in my block called Fit to be Geese by Open Gate Quilts.

Fit to be Geese Ruler

It’s a method that allows you to oversize the flying geese unit and then trim it down to perfection.

Anytime I can start out big and then trim it down, I’m there!

I finished my February block for the Sugar Block Club:

Sugar Block 2 @ The Crafty Quilter

This was my second time ever paper piecing.  I’m still undecided if I like it or not.  Maybe it’s because the middle points didn’t match up so well after spending all afternoon working on it. 🙁

Oh well.  I can live with it.  There are some other paper pieced blocks that I’ve seen recently that I’m itching to try.  Maybe practice makes perfect!

I’m linking up with WiP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

  1. They say if you can’t see the mistake from the back of a galloping horse, don’t worry about it! And I don’t think that teeny, tiny miss would be seen! Your blocks are lovely…8-)

  2. Your designer mystery BoM is so pretty ! Thanks for referencing the Fit to Be Geese ruler. I would like that one!

Paper piecing does take a lot of practice. You did really well, making a complicated block!
