Sew Thankful Sunday, 02.16.2014

{I am frequently visiting other blogs and I’m always amazed at the talent and passion that I see along the way.  Since I love sharing these new “finds” with you, I created Sew Thankful Sunday.  My way of giving back to the quilting community and sharing great content with you at the same time!}

Sew Thankful ButtonThere are still hearts in the air and in the sewing room, and I have so much to show you today that I am sew thankful for!

1.  I love the scrappy look of this heart from Sassafras Lane Designs.  This pattern company designs and sells many great quilt patterns, and this “Pieces of My Heart” quilt pattern is a free one!

2.  Here’s a messenger bag tutorial from Amy at Diary of A Quilter that you’ll love.  It’s big enough to hold your quilting books and a project too!

3.  I’ve seen plenty of wonky star blocks, but I finally paid attention when I saw this tutorial by Cath at Wombat Quilts.  You should see the quilt that she and a group of ladies made out of their wonky stars – gorgeous and scrappy!

4.  You know I like pillows, and this Flying Together Pillow by Megan at Canoe Ridge Creations is definitely on top of my list!  She has a free pdf pattern that you can download on her blog.

5.  It’s so nice to have a quick gift idea when you need something to whip up for someone, and these potholders would be perfect.  You can find an excellent tutorial to make your own by Christine at Triangles & Squares.

6.  Here’s another quick gift idea:  a Smooches 1-Hour Zip Pouch from the Benartex design team at Sew in Love {with fabric}.  If I can make something in one hour, I have to give it a try!

7.  Here’s a great idea for organizing your favorite patterns from Virginia at Gingercake.  It only takes a curtain rod and some clips!  You can also find some seriously cute sewing patterns at her pattern shop.

8.  Here’s a pillow that will get you in the mood for Spring!  You can follow Maureen’s tutorial at Maureen Cracknell Handmade to make your own Garden Gate Patchwork Pillow.

9.  I love to peak into other people’s sewing spaces, and I was delighted to see the sewing studio tour at Don’t Call Me Betsy.  Elizabeth admits to being a type A personality and organization is rampant in her space!  Be prepared to sighhhh!

  3. Hi Julie, lots of fun new ideas and sites from you again! I too love to see other peoples’ sewing rooms! I haven’t commented on your blog for a while, but I have been following what you’ve been up to 🙂
    I was in rainy and flooded England a couple of weeks ago, but braved the water-logged roads to get to ‘The Quilt Room’, shop of Pam and Nicky Lintott. I fell for their pattern ‘Return to Sender’ and chose a very bright jelly roll to use for it……….had to have something to beat the bad weather blues, (any excuse for fabric shopping) 🙂
