What I’m working on Wednesday

Also known as hump day, Wednesday seems like a good day to show you what I’ve been working on!

I finally finished my “Love to Sew” quilt and it’s now hanging in my sewing room!

I love the bright colors and the quilt blocks are perfect for a sewing room.

The pattern was a Mystery Block of the Week at Sew Lux Fabrics, in celebration of their 3-year anniversary.  You can purchase your own pattern here.

Now that I see it hanging, I think it needs more stitching around the sewing machine.  Maybe I’ll personalize it with “Julie’s Sewing Room” stitched into the frame around the sewing machine.

I love how the border came out using a “seed stitch” stencil.

I finished block 8 and 9 of the Fat Quarter Shop’s 2013 Designer Mystery BOM.  I love these little house blocks!

Now, I have three rows of themed blocks; baskets, stars and houses.  One more row to go and it’s all done!  I wonder what the next row-type will be?  It should be showing up in the mail any day now.  Here are all of the blocks so far:

Oh, I just love them all together!  If you’re wondering, this BOM comes in a kit with the pattern and fabric each month from the Fat Quarter Shop.  It sold out shortly after being introduced last year (2013).  The good news is that this year’s 2014 Designer Mystery BOM is equally beautiful and you can still sign up here!

Just last night, I finished this little Summer Star.  Actually, I still need to add a corner triangle to each corner, but I can’t decide which fabric to use!

Isn’t it pretty?  I started it in the Summer Stars class at The Granary (thank you Angela!) We used the pattern, Summer Stars, by Anka’s Treasure along with their new ruler, The Triangler.  It’s a great technique and it makes working with these triangles super easy.  I need to make 3 more stars so it will become a wall hanging.  That seems to be as big of a quilt as I can manage these days!

I hope you’re having a great week!  Happy Quilting!

Julie
