Wednesday WIP’s

Today I have some Wednesday WIP’s to show you.  But first, I want to mention that I was made aware of a few errors in my cutting instructions for Row 4 of the Nordic Mini QAL.  I’ve corrected them, so when you click on the link it will have the updated version.  Thanks to Amanda at The Patchsmith for catching these errors.  She has already finished her Nordic Mini and you can see her version here.  If anyone else has finished theirs, please send me a picture and I’ll post them on my blog.

I seem to be working on little projects that will eventually add up to something big (I hope). Hears a quick peek:

I finished the last block for the El’s Kitchen BOM at The Granary.  This is why I love applique so much – this block is so darn sweet!

I’m going to be in San Diego over the next few days and I get to go to the Quilt In a Day shop in San Marcos.  I’ve signed up for an open sewing class there on Thursday so I can finish this baby.  Maybe I’ll meet Eleanor Burns while I’m there!

For those of you on Instagram, you may know that Lori Holt at Bee in my Bonnet is doing a fun Christmas QAL using her book, Quilty Fun.  I couldn’t resist the cuteness, so I’m on way to a little Christmas quilt.  Here are some of the blocks I’ve completed (pardon the cell phone pictures):

Now you see why I couldn’t resist?  They are so cute and scrappy and easy!

That’s all for now friends.  I’ve got to get ready to teach a class and then I’m catching a flight to San Diego!

  1. Hi, Julie! I also LOVE and am following Lori Holt’s Quilty Christmas. Your blocks are fabulous!!! Is that something you could teach at The Granary? Thanks also for your Christmas round-up–I love to be online when I’m not at my sewing machine 😉

  2. I love your appliqué block! I’m putting quilty fun on my Christmas wish list, then I can go back and finish the blocks on Instagram and be ready for Christmas next year!!!

  3. Such beautiful scrappy Christmas blocks! I especially love your wreaths and the Gingerbread Man!They all make me smile! And didn’t Amanda’s Nordic Mini Quilt also turn out to be stunning! I hope to get mine finished soon!

  4. I love all of these sweet things so much – your quilty fun Christmas blocks are my favorites! I love those Nordic mittens!!! Believe it or not, when I was a college student, my mom and I attended one of Eleanor Burns’s Quilt in a Day workshops! I hadn’t ever heard of her before that. It was before rotary cutters were used, and we tore our fabric into strips. I made 3 log cabin quilts using her technique. Tell her I said THANKS! 😉

  5. I love that row of wreaths! So darling!

I haven’t started the Nordic mini but I’m going to do it, even though everyone’s all done. I’ve just had too many finishes to do up to this point. It’s looks like clear sailing ahead….how dare I say that in the weeks leading up to Christmas!

  6. I printed the Nordic instructions on 11/29; how can I now know which part to correct without reprinting the whole thing?

    1. Sorry about that Pamela. The corrections were just the cutting instructions for row 4. Most of the quantities of 2″ x 3″ rectangles were changed and the length of the strips for the 9-patch were increased to 9″ instead of 6″.

  7. Ooh have fun in San Diego. I met Eleanor Burns at a quilt show in Long Beach several years back. She was absolutely wonderful. She thought it was great that my husband was there for support!
