Sew Thankful Sunday, January 2015

Welcome to Sew Thankful Sunday, January 2015!

{I am frequently visiting other blogs and I’m always amazed at the talent and passion that I see along the way.  Since I love sharing these new “finds” with you, I created Sew Thankful Sunday.  My way of giving back to the quilting community and sharing great content with you at the same time!}

I’m so glad you’re joining me today as I share with you many projects and events from other bloggers that I’m sew thankful for.  I love the beginning of the year when everything feels fresh; it’s a good time to start some new projects or finish up those old ones.  You might find something below to inspire you along those lines!

(Remember, you can click on any of the images in this post and it will open up a new tab to the associated link).

1.  Let’s start with the Urban ChurnDash sew along from Natalia Bonner at Piece N Quilt.  This is a fun, modern twist on the traditional churn dash block and I love the colors in the graphic below:

2.  If you’re looking for motivation to finish up some projects, then you’ll want to visit Melissa at Sew BitterSweet Designs and Shanna at Fiber of All Sorts.  They are co-hosting the 2015 Lovely Year of Finishes.  There is a monthly link-up and prizes for finishes.

3.  It’s a New Year and there’s a New Mystery happening at Little Bits of This & That.  Sherri is giving you a little bit of a clue as to the type of project for this mystery – it’s a wall hanging.  This would be a perfect way to use up some scraps!

4. January is the beginning of My Favorite Things Mystery BOM happening at Quilt Doodle Doodles.  Cindy is combining applique and traditional piecing to stitch together some of her favorite things starting with a snowman and a Christmas tree this month.  The pattern is free during the month it is introduced; past blocks will be available for a small fee.

5.  I enjoy tutorials for individual quilt blocks and Jen at Quilter in the Closet has recently posted two tutorials:  Ashley’s Star and Ashley’s Star Alternate.  They look great together or alone and measure 12 1/2″ inches (unfinished).

6.  Here’s another free quilt block pattern that is for all of you paper piecers out there:  the Texas Star Quilt Block by Amy at 13 Spools.  This is so cute I might just have to break my paper piecing phobia to try it out.

7.  If you have a fat quarter bundle lying around, it might find a new home in this beautiful, free quilt pattern, Directional, by Melissa at 100 Billion Stars.  Quick and easy and so adorable!
