Christmas in July

I am loving all of the Christmas in July happenings in the crafting world. It’s not always easy to get into the Christmas mindset when it’s summertime, but Fort Worth Fabric Studio is helping with that.  They are putting on a Christmas in July series that includes some great tutorials.  Today, I am participating with a tutorial for a Frosty Cabin Tree Skirt.

You can find the full tutorial at Fort Worth Fabric Studio.  I’ve been wanting to make a tree skirt for awhile, and this has been a great opportunity to get it done!

If you’re visiting here for the first time, welcome!  I’m so glad you stopped by.  You can find many more tutorials for Christmas quilting and gifts at my Christmas Once a Month page.  If you want to know a little bit more about me (and some random facts), you can check out this post.

It’s not easy photographing and staging a Christmas project without the usual wintertime props, so I relied a bit on editing and PicMonkey to help.  PicMonkey is a free program that is really easy to use and one of my favorite blogging tools.  If I can figure it out, anyone can!

This is what the tree skirt looks like without any tree or presents to adorn it:

I think this would be so cute in a red and white color scheme.  There are so many cute Christmas prints out there.  For this project, I used some of the Frosty Forest collection from Benartex.  I love the owls in this one!

Thank you for stopping by!

  1. I love picMonkey! I’m in a Christmas in July mode and have been folding and organizing my Christmas fabric this week! Love the skirt.

  2. Love the tree skirt and it’s a nice size too. Thanks for the reminder to start making things for Christmas. I never even think of it until after Thanksgiving and then it’s usually too late. I can’t wait to see all the tutorials.

  3. Great tree skirt. I need one very badly too. We use one I made years and years ago when my boys were all small. They all have their own children now, except one of them, if that tells you how old mine is. Remember when they all had ruffles around the edges? Yea, THAT era. LOL

  4. Love the tree skirt! I want to make this since I need one this year, so thanks again. I saw your tip on the leaders and enders on The Quilt Show and really liked it. I have been using them for years but what I really learned from you is all the reasons why. I also like your tip for the 2 1/2 inch squares, how neat is that. I plan on getting a little container like you had to stack them in. Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks again. Bunches of hugs to you….Claudia

  5. I love the tree skirt, I could use a new one for sure! Thanks for sharing and for reminding me about PicMonkey. It could be a great help with my pictures.
