Thanksgiving happenings

Today is a busy day of preparation at the Cefalu house.  We will be hosting Thanksgiving for our family, so today I try to get as much prep work done as possible.  Pies are baking, cranberry sauce is made and last minute shopping is done.

We have our daughter, her husband and grandbaby Amelia staying with us all week – we love having a baby in the house.  At four month’s old, she’s starting to chat (telling everybody what to do already)!  Mr. Crafty Quilter is a bit of a baby hog, but when it’s time for cuddling, grandma gets the prize.

I made Amelia two stuffed elephants, one large and one small, using this free tutorial from Birch Fabrics.  The small one is just her size and the trunk is perfect for chewing.

I haven’t had much time in the sewing room this week, but I did finish this quilt top that has been a UFO for over 8 years.  I still love this mixture of Kaffe Fassett and cinnamon solids.  My son Jon was a good sport and agreed to be the quilt model.  It’s a perfect fall day here in Northern California for picture taking.

I completely stay away from the Black Friday madness that follows Thanksgiving.  Fortunately, there are a few ways to get my shopping fix without leaving the comfort of my home.

It’s worth checking out these deals for supplies at Craftsy.  Plus it’s a great time to try a new class at Craftsy, too

How about you?  Are you celebrating Thanksgiving?  Going shopping this weekend?  Where ever you are and whatever you do, I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
