June UFO link up & return from Scandinavia

It’s the last day of June already, and it’s time to share your June UFO finishes in the link up at the end of this blog post.  If you have been following along with the Hello 2016, Goodbye UFO’s challenge, you will have completed six projects from your UFO list by now!

Hello 2016, Goodbye UFO's

I know that summer vacations can add a little time crunch to the challenge, which was definitely true for me this month.  We just returned from 11 days in Scandinavia with 3 of our (adult) children, and we had a wonderful time.  That’s my UFO for this month – a successful trip (which was entirely planned by me – a challenge in itself) and back home safely.

We started in Stockholm and spent the first 5 days in Sweden visiting with our niece and her family who moved there last year.  They have a 2-month-old baby girl and 2-year-old son.  It was the perfect vacation for me – some baby snuggles combined with long walks on cobblestone streets and no cooking!  We also took the train to Copenhagen and spent one night there.

Next, we landed in Bergen, Norway, and spent 3 days driving through the fjords.  We ended up in Lillehammer for two nights, where I found my way into a quilt shop by accident (yes, really) and was happy to see bolts of fabric and beautiful samples on the walls.

We didn’t make it to Oslo (change of plans), but I was able to connect with a good friend, Edith, who lives in a beautiful town just outside of Oslo.  I met Edith through my blog, and she has visited me several times in California.  She made a fantastic lunch for our family and showed me her sewing room and some recent projects.  It was the perfect ending to a wonderful journey!

Now it’s your turn.  What have you finished this month?  I’m finding it’s hard to keep up with all of my BOM’s and QAL’s, let alone finish a large project.  The saying is true, “sew much fabric, sew little time”.

This month’s prize packages will each contain 6 fat quarters of Noteworthy by Sweetwater for Moda, a book of quilting patterns, mini charm pack and Frixion Pen.

I am so happy that I was able to upload my picture this time of
my UFO! It was so much fun and I will be giving it to her this
evening. Thanks for doing this it helps. Love what you
are working on for next month.

  2. Hi, Julie. I enjoyed reading about your trip and seeing your photos! Due to my UFO this month, I practiced button-hole stitching by machine many appliqué figures. I’ve always shied away from that stitch for appliqué before. That’s why this particular project was in the UFO stack! It’s fun to become proficient at something new 🙂
    Thank you, Lori 🙂

  3. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip with your family. I had to change the project I completed this month so that I could get it sent off for a gift. Thanks for the inspiration to keep at my list.

  4. Glad you’re home safely and had a wonderful trip.Would love to have seen the quilt shop you visited there.

  5. I wasn’t able to work on a ufo this month. I had other priorities such as a class I just had to take and I gave a helping hand to a friend who needed to make 10 totes for a reunion. This month is spoken for as well. I’m making a baby quilt for a grandbaby who’s expected in August. I am pleased with completing 5 ufo’s this year. I might be able to fit one more in before year’s end.

  6. I am getting an error message. I am clueless to how to add the link from a picture in my photo gallery.

  7. I used the APQ UFO challenge last year to get a lot of projects finished.
Your linkups this year are helping me very much by reminding me to take photos. (I had to ask the recipient of one project to send me a photo since I’d forgotten to take the photo.)
Take photos, take photos, take photos – and make sure they’ve turned out good enough!

  8. I have totally enjoyed this 2016 UFO challenge. I have been able to complete my 6 months projects so far and added a few more. Such fun to finish projects….I hope we can do this again in 2017.
