Upcoming projects and WIP’s

There are so many things going on at the Crafty Quilter household.  I have some upcoming projects to tell you about and a few WIP’s that I’m in the middle of.

But first, let me say “thank you” so very much for your sweet comments on my 5 year, 5,000 followers milestone.  I’m overwhelmed by your kindness and I appreciate every message.  Many of you have mentioned that you enjoy my Sew Thankful Sunday posts, so be assured that they will continue on a monthly basis.  I’ll also keep you up to date on my grand daughter, Amelia, (if I must – ha ha!) and our household renovations (not much to show yet.)

I’m still working on my Woven Heart tutorial and you’re going to love the many things you can do with this block!  Plus, there’s no curved piecing involved.  I’ve been playing with EQ7 to come up with some layouts and I’m excited to share them with you.  Here is the block which will finish at 9 1/2″ (yes, that’s 10″ unfinished).  You may be reminded of the hearts you “wove” in school – back in the day.

Woven Heart block tutorial coming soon

I’m participating in two blog hops in the next few weeks.  The first one is for the book, I Love Precut Quilts! by Tricia Maloney.  Next Tuesday, January 31, I’ll be sharing a project that I made from this great little book and I’m really excited about it!

The Tuesday after that, February 7, will be my turn on the Enchanted Blog Tour.  Enchanted is a new fabric line by Dodi Poulsen for Riley Blake.  You’re going to love what I’ve done with this adorable fabric!

That’s about all I can keep up with in my sewing room.  Between looking at kitchen plans and materials and a change in lifestyle because of our small living quarters, I don’t have as much time to quilt.  It’s a small price to pay, but quilting keeps me sane, you know?

We planted a small winter garden this year and we just harvested our first bunch of broccoli.  It’s just amazing what you can grow in California during the winter!

In Austin, Texas, it’s planting time, too.  Amelia has a little bit of her grandmother in her!  Those raised beds were made by Mr. Crafty Quilter as a birthday present to my daughter.  I think Amelia is having more fun with them than her parents.

That’s it for now.  I hope you’re having a great week. I’ll be back soon with that woven heart tutorial.

Amelia is just too cute for words. It’s amazing how time goes by so quickly, it seems not that long ago that you were letting us of her arrival.

  2. I love Sew Thankful Sunday! I’m glad it’s not going away! We’re all so busy but we all need new wonderful ideas! I look forward to this new ❤️ block, I so loved making the last one. I’ll miss the wip’s every month, but I’ll try to finish something every month on my own! Some little critters were eating my broccoli in the garden, but we’ve caught them and now it’s growing again! I’ve just picked a large bunch of arugula and kale, and my cauliflower is looking good! California gardening is the best! Thanks for sharing your sweet Amelia with us!

  6. I can’t wait to play with that heart block! I’m really enjoying some Valentine’s sewing this year:) your granddaughter is so cute! It’s not too bad to take after her grandma, especially with gardening and maybe quilting!

  7. Must be nice to be able to pick some broccoli at this time of year. We live in Tennessee and the weather was warm last week. This week it has been down in the 40’s and this morning we had frost again. Hoping the warm weather returns soon.

Looking forward to the finished heart block. Looks like a fun one. So far I like what I see.

Oh my…Amelia has grown so much. It’s so cute to see her working in the garden. Just wonder what’s going on in her head with her hands in the dirt. It’s a good start for a little one.

God Bless you and your family.

  8. Thanks so much for the update! I really enjoy the up date of your Granddaughter and the gardening . Will be looking forward to the woven heart. You are amazing to get as much done as you do. Thanks again

  10. Can’t wait to see what a blog hop is. The shop hops are hard for me since we watch our grandson (16 months, feels like 3 years) and afternoon with our 13 & 11 year old grandkids. I am shocked how old Amelia is! Wasn’t she just born yesterday??

  11. That all sounds great! Looking forward to it. And–just wondering, not nagging–did I miss a post about the busy wall, with the locks and hinges and such? I should be able to figure it out on my own, but yours was such a work of art that I’m sure I can learn a lot from you and Mr. Crafty. My list of Things to Make for the little sweethearts is long, so I haven’t run out of things to make for them yet while I wait.
