I’m joining a new sew along

Happy Monday!  I’m joining a new sew along that just started up and I hope you’ll play along, too!  My friend, Amanda of The Patchsmith, has a new book titled The Patchsmith’s Sampler Quilt Blocks.  This book is full of the cutest, 6″ quilt blocks that are easily pieced together.  There are just a few applique blocks included, so I think there’s something for everybody.

Amanda is hosting a sew along where she will post one block each week with tips on how to make it.  You will need to purchase the book to get the full instructions, and it’s definitely worth the price for all 50 blocks included.

We’ve just begun week 2 of the sew along with the Guiding Star block.  I love these little friendship stars!

I’m having fun digging through my stash of fabrics for each block.  The first block, Brick Wall, is really easy to sew together.  I love the scrappy fabric and colors of this one!

I really can’t wait for next week.  If you’re not convinced already, the watermelon block will push you over the fence.  Just wait!

  3. Do you think a collection of 5″ charms would be good for this pattern? The blocks are quite small but didn’t know if 5″ charms would really work on most of the patterns.
