National Quilting Day fun

Happy National Quilting Day everyone!  Also known as World Wide Quilting Day – which also happens to land on St. Patrick’s Day!  There are many ways you can get involved.  First, visit the Worldwide Quilting Day Facebook page to connect with other quilters and shop owners.

Check out the Quilt Alliance website for events and links to free patterns from their partners.

Make sure to visit The Quilt Show this weekend and watch a variety of free shows (23 in all) by some amazing quilt professionals and enter to win a Bernina sewing machine!

You can also visit your local quilt shop and do some shopping and get inspired.  If you don’t want to leave your house, then do some online shopping at Missouri Star Quilt Co for lots of National Quilting Day deals.  Today only, 3/17/18 (not an affiliate link).

Connecting Threads is offering 20% off your entire order, expires tonight, 3/17/18 (not an affiliate link)

If you haven’t discovered Craftsy yet, today might be the perfect day for you (affiliate link).  They have a large number of classes and supplies available for quilters and crafters of all kinds.  I just signed up for Craftsy Unlimited so I can spend a whole year taking as many classes as I want, plus I get access to exclusive content for members.

I happen to have the whole house to myself today, so I’m spending as much time as I can in my sewing room.  I’ve been playing with some green fabric and working on my Quilter’s Planner block of the month.  I’ll show you more blocks next week.

It’s wet and cold outside, so I’m happy to be inside sewing!  I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, too!  Thanks for reading along.

  1. Wish i knew about NQD before today. I had first seen/heard of it from the MSQC Deal of the Day email this morning. I did manage to cut some fabric for a quilt along I’m working on so I guess 30 min in the sewing room covered me :). I watched a few videos from The Quilt Show, reviewed some free patterns and read a about Vanessa and her Sunflower block and fabric (which i purchased some FQ’s back at Christmas). Thanks for the announcement and sharing. I’m a little behind on reading and am trying to catch up.

  2. There sure is lots going on for NQD! I’m sewing, but not quilting today. I’m trying to make Kirsten a travel shoulder bag and it’s a little out of my realm, so I’m taking my time and going step by step. Even at that, I missed a step and am having to back track! That’s what happens when you just look at the pictures and don’t read the instructions! Which is why I’m not a good pattern tester! Enjoy your evening! XO
