Fast & Fun Blog Hop

The Fast & Fun Blog Hop includes a talented group of bloggers who were asked to make a project from a choice of 5 patterns from the Villa Rosa Designs (VRD) Rose Cards. This blog hop is fast because all of the patterns are designed to be made fast. And it’s fun because there are lots of amazing prizes! My project – Snow Goose

I am a huge fan (and user) of table runners. When I saw the Snow Goose Rose Card, I new it was the project for me! I made this quilt in four days, including basting, quilting and binding it. It now sits on my table and I love it so much!

This pattern is designed to work with a jelly roll (2.5″ precut strips). Since I don’t own many jelly rolls, I found a 5″ charm pack of Blue Barn by Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda which contains the perfect colors for me. One charm pack along with a few squares from my scraps was all I needed for the top of this table runner. I had to adjust the cutting dimensions slightly, but it was VERY easy to do and resulted in a table runner that is 10″ x 45″ rather than 10″ x 50″.

The quilting was done with simple straight lines 1/4″ on each side of the long seams. I like the way this quilting style makes this runner look more like a home décor piece and less of a quilt.

  3. Your table runner is just the perfect size. I love the colors. I love small projects. But I am drawn to large projects that take too long to finish. I am in the time of my life were I am just finishing up those forgotten projects but my path leads me to these wonderful smal projects that inspire me to create. Thank you for sharing your inspiration!

  4. Beautiful blues for your snow goose! The charm packs make it so easy to mix and match fabrics. Thanks for sharing and tge inspiration

  5. Oh dear! And this is why I get so little quilting done. I spend too much time drooling over what everyone else has made. I gather lots of ideas and get super inspired, but I have trouble not clicking the next link. Although I make a lot of table runners, I don’t use them in my own home, but I do like what you call “the decorator look” that makes the item more appealing to me.

  6. Your blog site is very pleasing to the eye. It’s fresh and pretty, clean lined. Seems like everyody that’s made the runner has done it in blue and white! Yours is very pretty. VRD patterns are like candy, you take one you like and all of a sudden you have way more than a handful. The app is great. When you move a pattern into your ‘what I own’ area, it puts it there in alphabetical order. So cool.

  7. I love your table runner especially the way you quilted it. It is beautiful in its simplicity. I have some Villa Rosa cards but have yet to create anything from them. I must remedy that this year. Thanks for your participation in the Hop.
