Welcome! My name is Julie Cefalu, and I’m so happy you’re here!

I am so excited that you’ve landed on my blog, The Crafty Quilter!  I love to create – mostly quilts but other things, too.  I’ve always been crafty starting as a young girl with some yarn and a crochet hook.  From there I’ve tried garment sewing, knitting, cross stitch, paper crafting, and quilting.  Maybe I should include fabric collecting to the list!

I am the mother of four amazing children and the wife to one amazing husband.  As of 2023, we have three granddaughters and one grandson that we love spending time with. We are empty nesters and live in the bay area of California with our dog, Cooper, our cat, Zoe, and Toby the tortoise.

I teach quilt classes and work at The Granary which is one of the oldest designated quilt shops in the country and a beautiful shop to visit. I also have an online classroom at The Quilt Show where you’ll find my videos which offer a variety of quilting tips and tricks.

I can now add the title of “pattern designer” to my job description, too! It’s so much fun to think up a quilt design and turn it into something tangible. All of my patterns can be found in PDF form at my Etsy Shop, Crafty Quilter Designs.

I hope to inspire you along your creative journey while I share my latest ideas and lessons learned in my sewing room.  I am so blessed that I get to do what I love and love what I do!

I publish a monthly newsletter that is chalk full of the latest online quilting news. You’ll find links to free tutorials, BOM’s and quilt alongs from quilt bloggers, pattern designers and fabric manufacturers that are current and upcoming. Plus, I love to give occasional, subscriber-only bonuses!
