Sew Thankful Sunday, 02.02.2014

{I am frequently visiting other blogs and I’m always amazed at the talent and passion that I see along the way.  Since I love sharing these new “finds” with you, I created Sew Thankful Sunday.  My way of giving back to the quilting community and sharing great content with you at the same time!}

Sew Thankful ButtonWow, are you ready for February?  I’m still catching my breath from last month!  I’ve got lots to share with you today that I am sew thankful for and I’m happy you’re here!

1.  This cute little Valentine Pocket Tutorial looks like a great place to store your Valentines!  Check out A Bright Corner and get Andy’s instructions for adding grommets and a link for this cute project.

5.  The Fort Worth Fabric Studio is an online fabric shop that has recently caught my eye because of their blog and new contributor, Lindsey of Inspiring Creations. You’ll want to take a peak at their latest free tutorials, the Scrappy Heart Pillow and the Hidden Star Quilt.

Scrappy Heart PillowHidden Star Quilt Pattern6.  This “Pretty Little Tote” would be just right for carrying books and magazine plus a few extra things.  Svetlana from S.O.T.A.K. Handmade has a nice tutorial to show you how to make your own.

7.  I love a good applique design and this girly fox applique is sew cute, and it’s part of Sew Can She’s Free Applique of the Month Club.  I am a big fan of Caroline’s blog.  She has a huge archive of sewing and quilting tutorials that have been featured here on Sew Can She.

Fox Applique8.  I {heart} this Hugs & Kisses Mini Quilt Tutorial from the blog at Sew Lux Fabric, Sit & Stitch Awhile.  It’s made with one mini charm pack and some background fabric.  You can find kits (on sale) at the Sew Lux Fabric website here.

XOmini-tutorial9.  If you’re new to free motion quilting, you might want to check out “10 Beginner Tips for Successful Free Motion Quilting” at the Craftsy Blog.  It’s full of great tips for beginners and seasoned quilters too!

10.  The latest issue of Fat Quarterly is out and it’s all about scraps!  I found some great ideas to help use up my scrap pile mountain(s). I love this online magazine and you can purchase a copy here.

12.  I know many of you have been saving up your old t-shirts to make into a quilt “some day”.  Well, get motivated with this T-shirt Rag Quilt tutorial by Jera at Quilting in the Rain.  Maybe someday will be today!

Tshirt Rag Quilt13.  I’m a little late in telling you about this next project, but I think it’s worth a mention anyways.  Alyce at Blossom Heart Quilts is coordinating the Lala Salama 100 Quilts for Kenya Drive.

The aim for this project is to provide a special quilt for every child’s bed in the new Bethany Kids Children’s Center at AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya.

There is a color palette and size requirement for these quilts which are due by April, 2014.  You can see what Alyce is planning for her quilt, here.
