Fat Quarter Shop Block of the Month

FQS 2012 Designer Mystery Block-of-the-Month

I received Block 1 of the Fat Quarter Shop’s 2012 Designer Mystery Block-of-the-Month in June and it’s completed!  This month the designer is Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs.  It’s so cute, is it not?

Block 1 of the 2012 Designer Mystery BOM

This is my first ever, non-Granary Quilt Shop (my local quilt shop) block-of-the-month.  It’s also my first ever mystery quilt!  It’s so nice to have all of the fabric picked out for you!

There’s even enough fabric left over to make another block or something else scrappy.

It’s a good thing there is plenty of fabric because, if you’re like me, mistakes will be made:

Even though they look fine, the colors are matched up wrong (flying geese), the size is wrong (half-square triangles), or the 1/4 inch match points are not just right (square in a square).

The fabric being featured this year is “Vintage Modern“, by Bonnie and Camille for Moda.  I love the retro looking reds, greys, and aquas!

Are you keeping up with your BOM? I know it’s only the first month, but so far so good!

Happy Quilting,

~ Julie

  1. I have signed up for this BOM too. I love this fabric and can’t wait to see what the finished project looks like. You did a super job on yours.

  2. It shows that you did a great job. I have been trying a quilt that has triangles in it but my square in a square technique is not even close to good. Do you have tips for this technique? I have been super frustrated. I should take a class but I work so my schedule is difficult. do you recommend a book on this? – Pretty fabric for this block. Looking forward to seeing all others!
