A Sweet Retreat

Several weeks ago I had the pleasure (and luxury) of attending Camp Spoolin’ Around, a quilting retreat hosted by Verna Mosquera.  Yes, three glorious days of quilting and a little retail therapy, too; at lovely quilt shops, my favorite kind of shopping therapy!

And Verna has a new book that was just released called A Sewn Vintage Lifestyle!  Of course I have my very own autographed copy.

Every page in this book makes me sigh!

Verna offers retreats about three times a year in Northern California (Alamo this time), and if you ever have the chance to attend one you won’t regret it!  She is a lovely person and a great hostess.

Several demonstrations (applique, embroidery, piecing, etc.) were included each day, and we were able to work on any project we wanted.

Everything in the retreat room was decorated in pink and vintage:

A little boutique was set up as you walked in the room with select pieces from Verna’s fabric lines (she designs for Free Spirit) and other goodies as well.

I had to purchase a few things for myself, as a souvenir, right?

Plus, most of Verna’s quilts were on display to take pictures of and/or drool over.  I might have done a little of both, but can you blame me?  Just look for yourself:

And every morning we were tempted by sweet treats and coffee/tea.

Thank you, Verna and Pam (her very efficient and lovely helper), for a wonderful weekend.  I learned so much and had a great time!  And thank you Rita, my quilting friend, for convincing me to go!
