September Favorites
I keep a running list of my favorite goodies to share with you guys. It’s sometimes quilt-related but often it’s just because! Here are my current September favorites.
I’ve recently discovered a fabulous online tea resource based in Portland, Oregon: Plum Deluxe. I love to drink a hot cup of tea in the afternoon and then again after dinner. It’s a great way to relax and be present in the moment. All of the Plum Deluxe tea blends are organic, non-gmo, and free of chemicals and sulfites. They support local and USA farmers wherever possible and run an active philanthropy program. The company was founded by Andy Hayes as a tribute to his mother, who lost a brave 6-year battle with breast cancer but never forgot to enjoy “the little things” in life. Try the Spicy Caramel Apple Herbal Tea or the Garden Grove Green Tea – so good!
The only digital magazine that I subscribe to is Make Modern. It’s definitely worth mentioning because it is loaded with great patterns and wonderful articles on the latest in quilting. I enjoy reading it on my iPad and I can print only what I need. It’s great for the environment, it fits my budget, and it’s easy to organize!
Here’s a handy tool for machine stitched binding: the Shortcut Binding Tool by Franklin Quilt Company. I was given this tool last year (thank you Sandy) and it sat in my drawer, until I was reminded of it and watched the video. This ruler works for a flanged binding or a two-sided-colored binding with ease.
My latest find from Pinterest: these Best Chewy Gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookies from My Gluten Free Kitchen. They really are amazing! Even if you don’t care about gluten (which sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t), they’re worth making. The secret ingredient is cream cheese. I wish I had one right now, to go with my afternoon tea. Hmmm….
Here’s a great gift idea for your favorite crafter (or yourself): a Tiny Tin Sewing Room from Tea Rose Company on Etsy. These are unique and hand-crafted miniature sewing rooms that fit inside a tin. I think they are so cute and sweet! I love the bright colors and attention to detail that Sachiko gives to each item.
Note: My monthly favorites are not sponsored by anyone. These are picked by me “just because”. They are something I would tell my friends about and that definitely includes you! Do you have any favorites you’d like to share? Do tell and leave a comment.
Have a wonderful and creative day!
Those teas look awesome! I usually have a cup in the morning each day at work and am always looking for some new interesting teas, thanks! One of my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes is one that contains pudding mix (kind of weird sounding but keeps the cookies so chewy and wonderful). http://allrecipes.com/recipe/15004/award-winning-soft-chocolate-chip-cookies/
I have seen that ruler before, thanks for all the recommendations!
I have a few favorites blogs i subscribe to and receive updates by email or Bloglovin, and a few on youtube. Not many but a few-good ones 🙂 (hint hint) that i enjoy reading, learning, and copying crafts–and it’s free. I’m totally a tea drinker will need to look into this. I saw the ruler at the Dallas quilt show in the spring, choc chip cookies i love and like you i’m not clear on the “to be or not to be gluten” . I also subscribe to Tea Rose Company and yes all her stuff is cutesy. 🙂 Thanks for sharing as i always in enjoy reading. 🙂
I have the same ruler in a drawer. Have not used it yet! It’s aging!!!!
Thanks for all the great information.
