Fast & Fun Blog Hop featuring Snow Goose
Welcome to my stop on the Fast & Fun Blog Hop hosted by Villa Rosa Designs! I’m so excited to share my project, Snow Goose, and to help give some prizes away! If this is your first time visiting, welcome. I hope you’ll look around and make sure to check out my free tutorials. You can also sign up for my newsletter for all of the latest quilt-y news (and receive a free pattern).
Fast & Fun Blog Hop
The Fast & Fun Blog Hop includes a talented group of bloggers who were asked to make a project from a choice of 5 patterns from the Villa Rosa Designs (VRD) Rose Cards. These quick and easy patterns are the size of a post card and very affordably priced. You can purchase this same set of 5 Rose Cards for the bundle price of $8.95 at Villa Rosa Designs.
This blog hop is fast because all of the patterns are designed to be made fast. And it’s fun because there are lots of amazing prizes! Each blogger gets to choose 6 readers from their comments to be eligible for prizes. All the details for entering can be found at the end of this blog post. (UPDATE: January 30, 2023 – Giveaway is now closed)
My project – Snow Goose
I am a huge fan (and user) of table runners. When I saw the Snow Goose Rose Card, I new it was the project for me! I made this quilt in four days, including basting, quilting and binding it. It now sits on my table and I love it so much!
This pattern is designed to work with a jelly roll (2.5″ precut strips). Since I don’t own many jelly rolls, I found a 5″ charm pack of Blue Barn by Laundry Basket Quilts for Moda which contains the perfect colors for me. One charm pack along with a few squares from my scraps was all I needed for the top of this table runner. I had to adjust the cutting dimensions slightly, but it was VERY easy to do and resulted in a table runner that is 10″ x 45″ rather than 10″ x 50″.
The quilting was done with simple straight lines 1/4″ on each side of the long seams. I like the way this quilting style makes this runner look more like a home décor piece and less of a quilt.

Jo sent me! I love your table runner! Those blues and creams are my home colors. They’re just so classic together! Thanks for sharing.
Love your snow goose anything done in blues catches my eye
Your blues are perfect for Snow Goose! I love that the runner is adjustable!
Beautiful colors. I love all shades of blue.
Thank you for showing your Snow Goose table runner and how you adapted the pattern. I like to use table runners too.
Your version of Snow Goose is great. I like that you made it a big shorter. 50″ is a bit much for my table. Thanks for sharing on this blog hop.
Your table runner is just the perfect size. I love the colors. I love small projects. But I am drawn to large projects that take too long to finish. I am in the time of my life were I am just finishing up those forgotten projects but my path leads me to these wonderful smal projects that inspire me to create. Thank you for sharing your inspiration!
Jo Sent Me. Love your table runner, it is so soft and beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!
Love the colors in this runner! Looks like quick fun project!
Beautiful blues for your snow goose! The charm packs make it so easy to mix and match fabrics. Thanks for sharing and tge inspiration
Oh dear! And this is why I get so little quilting done. I spend too much time drooling over what everyone else has made. I gather lots of ideas and get super inspired, but I have trouble not clicking the next link. Although I make a lot of table runners, I don’t use them in my own home, but I do like what you call “the decorator look” that makes the item more appealing to me.
Your blog site is very pleasing to the eye. It’s fresh and pretty, clean lined. Seems like everyody that’s made the runner has done it in blue and white! Yours is very pretty. VRD patterns are like candy, you take one you like and all of a sudden you have way more than a handful. The app is great. When you move a pattern into your ‘what I own’ area, it puts it there in alphabetical order. So cool.
I love your table runner especially the way you quilted it. It is beautiful in its simplicity. I have some Villa Rosa cards but have yet to create anything from them. I must remedy that this year. Thanks for your participation in the Hop.
I have enjoyed visiting the blog hop this week. So many beautiful creations using the Villa Rose patterns. My favorite is Nantucket.
I have many jelly rolls, but glad for your suggestion of using charm packs.
I’m enjoying seeing all the variations in how you interpret villa Rosa patterns. The Blue fabric is gorgeous in the table runner. LBQ fabric colors are my favorite to use.
Love the Villa Rosa patterns. They are so easy to make. The only drawback is that they are so small, I need to come up with a way to store them so I can find them again.
Jo sent me. Thank you for the blog hop.
I thought I would use those old photo albums that you can put 4 pictures in a sleeve. 2 on each side. I haven’t looked for the sleeves yet so hope they still make them. Then put them in a 3 ring binder.
Your table runner is very pretty! I love Villa Rosa patterns.
Thank you for participating. Your runner is beautiful!
Your Snow Goose table runner os beautiful and sophisticated. Thanks for putting my name in the hat to win a prize from the blog hop.
I definitely like the way you quilted the table runner. I’m trying to do more of my own and love to see ideas!
Jo sent me. Another beautiful version of the goose pattern. Your fabrics were a great choice
I enjoyed your blog and signed up for your newsletter. Thanks for the free pattern!
Beautiful runner! I am a regular follower of your blog, love your ideas.

Cheryl
I love the Villa Rosa card patterns. I’ve made a few and really like this table runner. I have a jelly roll of blues that I’ve been saving for something….and this just might be
I would make mine a little longer than 50″ to fit on my dining room table.
Thanks for all you do for all of us.
Love your runner and the colors you chose! I like the idea of being able to use the 5″ charms’ too!
Thank you for your Blog.
Your table runner is lovely. I like to have lots of table runners in different colors and for different seasons. The snow goose pattern would be perfect for that.
I’ve really enjoyed this hop; I’m meeting lots of new quilters! I agree with you about quilting the runner and how it changes the appearance. I’ll need to remember that trick.
BEAUTIFUL QUILT! LOVE THE BLUES AND THE SIMPLE QUILTING.
I want to make this using batiks.
I love the blues and creams. I actually have some of those prints and have used them in a project. I am always a fan of table runners, too. Thank you.

Your tablet runner is gorgeous! Love your website as well. Thanks for the free pattern and tips videos.
Sounds like a great runner to make quickly! Yours turned out amazing using a charm pack. Did you use up the whole charm pack?
I love your Snow Goose runner. I have started using table runners more for side tables, shelves, etc. I even have a small “runner” on top of my toilet to dress up the somewhat boring bathroom.
Beautiful table runner. Clever idea using 5” squares & scrapes in place of 2-1/2” strips. Love the pattern! I am a big fan of the post card patterns.
Your table runner turned out beautifully, and your use of the pattern just shows that patterns are guides, not a list of must-do rules. Thanks for sharing it.
I really like the Snow Goose pattern in a table runner. Yours is beautiful. Thank you for sharing
I think Snow Geese will be the first pattern I try if I win the pattern set. I have some leftover Kansas troubles fat quarters that I think would look really good. Jo sent me

Julie really like your choice of fabric and color for this runner. Your host did an awsome job and sponcers are great. No entry necessary.
I just stopped by to catch up with you. I have been following you and a few others you though. Your like neighbors. I have been gone for a looong time. Due to working, health and mental Issues, the Doctors
seem to think it’s due to meds fighting each other after a couple of surgerys . I go back Feb.3 for another adjustment of meds. Prayerfully THE FINAL ONE. They seem to think so. Then I go to have two mollers removed. But all dr.s are working together now. I’m totally blessed, it could have so much worse.
I’ll be blogging again starting this Sat. Hope to see you.
Lovely table runner! I like how easy it is to resize the pattern, and I like how you alternated white geese with blue.
