Wednesday’s W.i.P.
I have a few things to show you that I’m working on and one finished quilt (yipee)!
I fell in love with the Supersized Sampler at Little Miss Shabby. So, I followed Corey’s excellent tutorials and made my own patchwork stars. You can click on any of the images below and it will open up a new tab to the original post with instructions.
You might recognize some of Denyse Schmidt’s fabric in those blocks.
These blocks are 18″ square! I made one change from the original pattern; I changed all of the corner squares to half-square triangles. I think I’m going to make two more blocks so that I can make them into a lap-size quilt (next year).
I finished this quilt for my daughter, Sara:
The pattern is called Side Lights by Mountain Peek Creations. I love this pattern for showcasing panels!
I put Minkee on the back and quilted it myself. Each color-square has this design in variegated thread:
Yesterday I received a nice package in the mail…. this fat quarter bundle of Bungalow by Joel Dewberry for Free Spirit Fabric.
I won a giveaway on Joel Dewberry’s blog and I was so ecstatic! I’d love to use my new collection to make this (free) pattern (coming soon):
I think I need the honeysuckle color palette, too! But for now, I’m happy with this.

Hi Julie….you have been busy! I just love your super sized blocks, the colours are so lovely and crisp! They will make a stunning quilt.
I’m sure your daughter loves her quilt, it’s so fresh, but with a great splash of colour in the panel.
Finally congratulations on winning such a great giveaway. I agree that the pattern looks very exciting……must look out for that one too.
As usual thanks for more great inspiration and thanks for sharing!
Nice quilting Julie! Love the variegated thread. The star blocks look so perfect and they are going to look nice together, great color choices too. I like the bigger blocks.

Julie,
I love the colors you have chosen for your large blocks. The pattern looks like the one we used in our class (which I’m still plugging away at). As usual, all your work looks so beautiful! Thanks for sharing these pictures and the tutorials. Has your daughter seen the quilt you finished for her? Those solid blocks are so vibrant and rich in color. I’m sure she will love it.
