Wednesday happenings and a free pattern
Wednesday is usually my day to catch a breath and see where I’m at on my list of projects in process and coming up in the future. I’m caught up with my blocks for the Classic Meets Modern QAL at Sew At Home Mummy. August’s block was a modern churn dash with some improv piecing. I like the block, but I’m not so sure about the background fabric that I chose. A little too busy for this one.
September’s block is the maple leaf and it’s definitely appropriate for this time of year. I’m loving the bright oranges:
As I was cleaning up my sewing room, I found a partially-made Swoon block that I had started as a class sample. I finished piecing it together, and I’m in the process of turning it into a table topper. I’ll have more info on that later.
And finally, I want to pass along this FREE pattern from The Fat Quarter Shop. It’s called Color My Heart and it’s all about spreading the love of sewing and quilting this month. This pattern uses charm squares and finishes into a 27″ square. Make one for a mini quilt or more for a larger quilt.
I will be making this pattern soon and sharing my version with you next week. Also, the Fat Quarter Shop has challenged some of their favorite bloggers to work on something that they’ve never done before and share it with their readers. I’ve accepted the challenge and I’ll give you the full details next week, September 17. Here is the full list of participating bloggers:
