A Few More Things
I have a few more things to share with you that I didn’t include in Sunday’s Sew Thankful post.
I wanted to let you know about a few things happening at the Fat Quarter Shop. First of all, they have 20% OFF ALL ART GALLERY FABRICS with coupon code: AG2014. This offer will continue until SUNDAY November 9th, at 11:59 PM CST. I happen to love anything AGF and so I’m excited to pass this news on to you!
Fat Quarter shop is almost at the end of their 2014 Wishes Quilt Along benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This has been a donation-type QAL, and they are almost to their goal of $10,000! They are auctioning their Wishes Quilt and 100% of the total proceeds will go towards this goal. You can go here for more information.
Looking ahead to next year, Fat Quarter Shop has just introduced their 2015 Snapshots Quilt Along benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This quilt has 12 traditionally pieced picturesque (novelty) blocks that capture and celebrate moments of happiness in our lives. The Quilt Along officially starts January 15th, 2015 and they will release the first block pattern on the 15th of each month for the rest of 2015. All they ask from their participants is to donate to St. Jude every time they download one of their patterns.
I don’t think I can resist this one!
I was just introduced to a new (and free) block of the month, Sew Sweet Simplicity, from the talented designer and artist Jacquelynne Steves. I’m just a little bit smitten with everything Jackquelynne does, and I’m sure you will be too!
This BOM just started and will run for five months with 1 or 2 blocks per month (total of 6 blocks) for four months, then borders and finishing for the fifth month. So in addition to choosing which techniques you’d like to do, you can also choose the smaller quilt with just 4 blocks, or the larger quilt with 6 blocks.
Sew Mama Sew is always full of great inspiration and they recently featured a wool applique technique tutorial by Alison Glass (who just released her new fabric line, Handcrafted, and has a new book coming out soon, Alison Glass Appliqué). This is slow sewing at its finest!
Also being featured at Sew Mama Sew, is this Pacific Northwestern Messenger Bag by Cheryl Kuczek of Paradiso Designs. You can get the free pattern at Sew Mama Sew here.
O.K. that’s it for now. I just needed to get that out of my system (and into yours)! I hope you enjoy!

Oh, Julie, such delightful projects. I’m really looking forward to the Smapshots Quilt-along. The timing is good for me! I’ll be settled into my winter digs by then. I signed up for Jacquelynne’s BOM and since I’ll be migrating during it, decided to go with a scrappy look so I can incorporate fabric from both my stashes without having to find room in my luggage for fabric. I decided to make two of each block so I can have a bigger finished quilt and just love how the first block(s) came out. Thanks for the link to the messenger bag. I’ve been looking and looking for just the right one. And I love that pillow!! Good luck to the Fat Quarter Shop and their auction.
Thanks for mentioning my BOM, Julie! We are having a great time so far!
Thanks Julie for the Messenger Bag, I am in a lack of ideas for some gifts.
Thank you for the heads up on the Art Gallery Fabric sale. And what a cute quilt for 2015. I need to figure out how to fit that in my day!
Jacquelynne Stevens will be at my guikd’s meeting. I can’t wait. I believe she is teaching a workshop as well
