Introducing the Sheridan Quilt Pattern

It’s one of my favorite days when I get to launch a new quilt pattern. I’m happy to introduce you to Sheridan, a fat-quarter friendly quilt that is a mix of traditional and modern styles. It’s now available as a PDF download in my Etsy Shop; paper patterns will be coming in a few weeks.

The Sheridan Quilt Pattern

Sheridan Quilt Pattern

Sheridan is made up of classic components in a modern layout. The blocks are large (16″ finished) which makes this quilt come together real quick.

Pattern details:

  • Comes with four different quilt sizes:  crib (36″ x 36″), throw (52″ x 68″), twin (72″ x 88″), and queen size (88″ x 104″).
  • Easy to make larger by expanding the border sizes.
  • Perfect for fat quarters.
  • Block size is 16″ square (finished).
  • No special tools or rulers required.
  • 6 pages of full-color diagrams and instructions.
  • Pattern has been tested and tech-edited.

Many thanks to Christina at Quilt Pattern Writers for her excellent tech editing. You make my patterns so much better!

The cover quilt

Are you a fat quarter collector, like me? They’re my favorite pre-cut and this pattern is perfect for using fat quarters. The quilt on the pattern cover was made with seven fat quarters from the Heirloom collection by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics. It has some fall vibes going on with a spark of turquoise blue. The soft green in each block unifies all the colors.

I made this quilt in just about five days. I quilted it with straight, parallel lines spaced two inches apart. It was so simple and took me just one day to quilt! That’s as fast as it gets in my book. The backing is flannel and it has a very soft feel and drape.

Color options

There are so many color combinations that would work well for this quilt. It’s such an adaptable pattern and could work with so many fabric collections. I’ve mocked up a few ideas for you using some solid combinations. It’s hard to stop at just four.

Sheridan in Sun Drenched fabric

My most recent sample was made using fat quarters from the Sun Drenched collection by Sweetfire Road for Moda Fabrics. These colors are a great transition from summer to fall. There are kits available for this one at The Granary Quilt Shop, if you’re interested.

Sheridan in Tilda fabrics

I made my first test quilt using a collection of Tilda fabrics that I’ve had in my stash for a while. I only had enough to make nine blocks, so this version is a square quilt. I also placed the colors into rows which gives it a different look. I love this one; I think it would make a sweet child’s quilt.

I recently purchased a FQ bundle of Tilda’s new Merry Little Christmas and I’d love to use it for a Christmas version of Sheridan. (The list grows long).
