Sew Thankful Sunday, February 2019
{I love the idea of “paying it forward”. I think the world would be a better place if we could spread some joy and acknowledgement of good deeds done by others. I try to do that once a month for my Sew Thankful Sunday posts. I highlight some great content that I’ve found on other people’s blogs that I hope will inspire you and reward the originator by bringing traffic to their site. If your blog has been mentioned without your consent, please let me know and I will take you off the current list of featured bloggers.}
The month of February is all about hearts with a dose of chocolate for good measure. I love using hearts in quilting and you’ll find plenty of inspiration this month along with many other ideas and projects for your sewing room. There’s even a little bit of chocolate today, too!

- I love this Simple Hearts Quilt Tutorial by Alison at Cluck Cluck Sew. She has updated her original tutorial from several years ago with new fabric and a link to a printable with more block sizes. I made the Simple Hearts quilt a while back and I still love it today!
2. Do you have a collection of fabric selvages? Check out this Sewing with Selvages Tutorial by Melissa at Happy Quilting. You’ll be surprised at what you can do with them!
3. For any special occasion, you’re going to need the right table accessories. Check out this How To Make Placemats and Napkins Tutorial by HollyAnne at String & Story. It’s perfect for making a quick project and using up scraps or orphan blocks.
4. Check out this InstaPot Cover by Stephanie at Modern Sewciety for Sulky Threads. I love my InstaPot and this would really add some cuteness and protection at the same time. There is a link to a vegetable soup recipe that looks wonderful, too.
5. This adorable I Heart Pandas Quilt Tutorial by Amanda at Jedi Craft Girl is sure to please! It would look super cute in any novelty print and goes together really fast.
6. Strawberries and chocolate? Absolutely! These quick and easy Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from Hoosier Homemade will make your sweet tooth happy as well as your sweet heart!
7. This year is off to a great start at Aurifil with their first Thread Matters Series. Aurifilosopher, Donna at Follow That Thread explains the different weights of threads and when to use them. Very enlightening information!
8. Get your Valentine’s Day sewjo going with these 25 Valentine’s Day Projects compiled by Jacquelynne Steves. These will definitely fill your home with love!
9. I’m always excited to see what Fat Quarter Shop’s yearly charity sew along will be. This year’s quilt is Threadology containing eight different sampler blocks to create this adorable spool of thread. All donations will benefit Make-A-Wish of Central & South Texas.
10. You must check out the Valentine Sew Along going on at the ThermoWeb blog. There are four projects so far, and they are all so darn cute (like the one below by Carla at Creatin in the Sticks)!
This month is full of creative ideas that I’m sew thankful for; and it’s a perfect time of the year to stay inside and make something. I hope your month is full of hearts and sweetness. Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, Julie, for sharing each one of these links to a fun and fabulous project that will be fun to create. It has been quite a long time since I have done a heart project and these are all fantastic choices to begin with. Have a marvelous day!
I love the Simple Hearts pattern too … but also, as ever, so many smashing links, thank-you. You are such a wonderful source of inspiration for me.
Thanks for the heart links – I had them once before but lost them when my pc crashed 🙂
Thanks so much for all the cute Valentine ideas! I literally was just watching your Binding video on line when I somehow got booted out and when I reopened the computer, there was this great email from you! I know that whenever I run into “forgetfulness” and can’t do something, I look up your videos and it comes back. Your instructions are so clear and I can’t thank you enough for all your help. Happy Valentine’s to you Julie!
