Back to work and play
It’s good to be back to work (I think of it more as play). Many of you know I needed to take some time away from my business as we celebrated the lives of my mom and my father-in-law. Planning two funerals, hosting out-of-town family and traveling to and fro was a LOT. I caught a nasty virus and lost my voice (now day 7), but with the help and support of my family, we pulled it together without a hitch. Both memorials were beautiful and left us with love, appreciation and gratitude for the friends and family who shared in our losses.
While visiting, my oldest granddaughter asked me to take her to the quilt shop. That was just the medicine this grandma needed. I let her pick out some fabric and then helped her find a project. She chose to make a book sleeve, added some handles and did a fantastic job with it! I’m so happy that Amelia loves to create, just like her mom and grandma.
My children have all returned home to their respective states and the house is empty once again. It takes a day or two to recover emotionally and to put the house back together again. But I’m glad to have the busyness of life and work to come back to.
As quilters, there is never enough time for everything on our to-do list, let alone our wish-list. My job is to keep you motivated and inspired! I look forward to sharing some exciting, new content once again. Coming up soon is a new sew along, a review of a fun subscription box for quilters, and tips on how to square up a quilt.
I’ll also have my Piece & Quilt Sampler back from the quilter (binding time) and three new in-person classes to get ready for next week! I’m one of those people who gets more done when there is more to do. And a deadline helps, too.
The weather is supposed to be gorgeous this weekend in California. I’m going to find time to relax in the sun, pull some weeds and heal. I hope you find time to do something you enjoy. Thanks for your support and for taking the time to be here.

Thinking of you and your family. I’m so sorry for your losses. You’ve had a lot to deal with and it does take a while to get re-centered. I’m looking forward to the orange peel sew along, it looks like a good segue into spring!
Condolences to you and your family. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers for strength and peace during this difficult time. Someone needs to make you a “pieced heart to help heal” mini quilt.
Deepest sympathy on your losses. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. May the memories of them bring you comfort. Linda Haan
Sincere sympathy to you and yours, Julie. Losing a parent, even if expected, is difficult and recovery takes time. Be kind to yourself, and let the work take precedence when you need to step back a moment. God bless.
I hope that you realize how much you mean to so many of us.
Give yourself lots of time to get over such big losses.
Wishing you peace and joy and lots of garden sunshine.
words just seem so inadequate when wishing to comfort an acquaintance when they are grieving and emotionally fatigued. God’s Best to you and your family. There is something different about losing one’s mother
Jullie,
Sending healing thoughts and warm hugs.
That is definitely a LOT. Sorry for your losses.
Take good care of yourself, whatever that means for you 🙂
I’m looking forward to your future content.
Take time for yourself and thanks for all your patterns and quilting tips. Enjoy your CA temps as we recover from snow and zero-degree temps.
Dear Julie So nice to see you back . So sorry for your losses. My husband and I lost all 4 parents in less than 2 years and it was difficult. Sounds like this weekend will be just what you need. You are so, so lucky to have those beautiful grandchildren in your life right now. Take care and be well.

I hope you will find peace, hope, and sweet memories as you bask in your sunny garden. I always do.
What a sweet post. Life throws us lots of curve balls, but with family support, we make it through. My sympathies for your family losses and joy that you were able to celebrate wonderfully lived lives.
Take care and get well. Quilting just might be therapeutic.
Blessings to you and your family, Julie. You have been my online friend for a long while, so I feel as though I know you. I have enjoyed being a part of your quilting family. Keep the faith and God bless. Sincerely Nancy Neau.
