About Mrs. Quilty
Mrs. Quilty started out as a simple idea to learn an exciting new hobby and evolved into a tight-knit community of quilters who craved more excitement, more colors, more unique patterns and fresh inspiration. That’s how the idea for Mrs. Quilty was born — a service that would supply all these things to fellow quilters in one box!
Today, they seek to promote the awesome craft of quilt-making by making it a simple, fun and enjoyable experience. The subscription box is designed for both newbies and seasoned quilt makers alike. They supply you with beautiful fabrics, unique projects of varying skill levels and tools that make it so easy to fall in love with quilting.
What’s inside the subscription box?
The fun part of a subscription box is opening it up and discovering what’s inside. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I opened my first box. Each monthly box is packed with the following:
- 12 coordinating fat quarters of 100% premium cotton fabric
- full-color magazine with 4-5 easy-to-follow projects
- surprise gifts to use in your quilting projects
That’s over $100 worth of supplies at a third of the price. The value and cost savings of each box is tremendous.
I was given the choice of two boxes to work with, and I chose Month 1 and Month 2. The contents of each is shown below. Extra gifts included for Month 1 were a 6.5″ square ruler and rainbow straight pins. The extra gifts in Month 2 were a point turner and heat-erasable pen.
On top of all that, there is a strong and active online community. You’ll be able to connect with over 6,500 members in the “Mrs. Quilty Club” Facebook group.
Fat quarters
Every quilters needs a good inventory of fabric, just like a painter requires a diverse color palette. The twelve fat quarters included in the box are designed to coordinate together and they are exclusive to Mrs. Quilty. I love that there are a variety of print sizes and that it includes stripes and dots.
I know what you’re going to ask. How is the quality of the fabric? I found it to be high quality and similar to a poplin fabric. The weave is tight and the fabric did not fray at all. I enjoyed working with each collection.
Magazine highlights
I love magazines, and the Mrs. Quilty magazine did not disappoint. It is loaded with useful articles, at least four projects, tips and QR codes that take you to video tutorials. If you’re a visual learner, you will definitely appreciate the videos. Each magazine has a theme, and includes a block pattern to use in a block-of-the-month quilt.
Month 1 projects
The theme of the first box is kitchen comforts. Some of the basics for new quilters are also covered as well as helpful information for quilters of any skill range. There are project instructions for a quilt-as-you-go mug rug, a colorful pot holder, a quilted placemat and a recipe for oatmeal cookies.
I made the quilt block and the quilted placemat from the first box. The project directions were easy to follow with step-by-step instructions and full-color diagrams. I still want to make that cookie recipe, though!
Month 2 projects
The theme of this magazine is booklover crafts. I love this theme and wanted to make all of the projects! I did make the block-of-the-month block and it was really fun. Some of the fabrics I switched from what was suggested. There is plenty of fabric to play with!
The other project I made was a book sleeve. I’ve always wanted one and here was the perfect opportunity to make one for myself. I love the variety of prints used and easy construction of this project.
Other project instructions in Month 2 include a corner bookmark, long bookmark, and a reading pillow (this is on my list).
Special gifts
You’ll find several gifts in each box that you can add to your quilting toolbox. The first month included a 6.5″ square quilting ruler and straight pins in a rainbow of colors. The second month’s gifts were a Frixion pen and a wooden point turner (which turned out to be very useful for all of the projects for that month).

Hey Julie
I’ve been subscribed for 5 months now and honestly, I’m super happy with the boxes! Every month brings a fun surprise, and I even did the plushies they turned out so cute, I was over the moon with them. Thanks for sharing these great kits; they’ve really spiced up my projects!
Hi Julie,
I enjoy your emails but am wondering if ppl from outside USA can also purchase ‘kits’?
I usually look with longing to such things as the Mrs Quilty subscription box but doubt if I can partake as I live overseas.
I await your reply.
I’ve read a lot of negative reviews about Mrs. Quilty. About how they do not respond, customers unable to cancel, etc. Especially about the adorable stuffed animal patterns she offers as an incentive. That the patterns they send do not resemble the pictures she posts. Supposedly her pics are AI generated and do not represent the actual patterns. Can you find out the truth please? I am interested in the stuffed animal patterns but am hesitant to order because of the negative reviews online. Please help us know what is the truth. Thank you!!
I reviewed it, too, and thought the fabric was good quality. I think the projects are fun, too. I definitely think it geared to newer quilters who want to do little projects.
I was at my local quilt group yesterday and our presenter was talking about quilt finishing. She used your handouts on flanges. I was so pleased to tell her that I knew you. What an inspiration you have been to so many people.
I’ve been getting the subscription box for a few months now and I really enjoy it. The fabric is lovely, soft and easy to work with. the projects are fun too. I like that the magazine has video tutorials too, sometimes its just easier to follow along that way. The little extras in each box are a nice touch, and I’ve actually used all of them so far. I know subscription boxes aren’t for everyone but for me this one has been worth it.
I tried out one box of Mrs. Quilty recently. The magazine was okay but the fabric are not quilt shop quality, thus, I don’t want to spend my time using them. I canceled my membership. Mrs. Quilty has never confirmed the cancelation even though I sent numerous emails and tried calling them. Instead, I keep getting a crazy number of emails from her almost daily. Sorry, I do not recommend and hope that you will reconsider, Julie. I have been following you for years and enjoyed your blog, patterns, and suggestions, but I disagree with Mrs. Quilty recommendation.
I tried them for about a year. In my boxes, I received 2 6 packs of identical fat quarters every single time. Not 12 different prints. So I cancelled. They contacted me for my opinion, which I gave and Then asked me to try the fabric only box and again received 2 6 packs of identical fat quarters and they were a repeat of fabrics I had already received. I cancelled. The fabrics are a good quality but the design choices on their fabrics will repeat in a different color way but the same pattern. I feel the Sew Sampler is a much better buy for the money. JMHO

I tried and decided the fabric was not quilt shop quality. I canceled but they don’t confirm. They just keep sending me emails. I agree, Sew Sampler is a better box and company.
Looks like a lot of fun projects. Thank you for such a great review.

The deceptive advertising that Mrs. Quilty posts on Pinterest (little stuffed animals that are nowhere on their website) keep me from giving them my money.
Agree!!! I do not trust Mrs. Quilty at all. From the reviews I’ve read on line, she does nit have a stellar reputation. I want those stuffed animal patterns. But apparently they are a figment of her AI imagination.
Julie, I just signed up for a subscription. Thank you very much for reviewing this. I’m a confident beginner and feel I need help selecting coordinating fabrics. I’m happy to see small projects are featured…sounds like it’s designed for me!!!
