10 year blogiversary & giveaway!

I can’t believe that today is my 10 year blogiversary! I never imagined The Crafty Quilter would grow from a little space to share my ideas on the internet to a large online community of quilters and creatives. I am so grateful to you all for following me on this adventure. I think this calls for a celebration, and what better way to celebrate than with a giveaway!  UPDATE:  This giveaway is now CLOSED.

10 year blogiversary at The Crafty Quilter! Time for a giveaway (or two).

I hate picking just one winner, so there are actually TWO giveaways! I’ve created a special bundle of goodies for Giveaway #1 that include A Quilting Life Monthly Planner, a charm pack of Heirloom fabric by Alexia Abegg for Ruby Star Society, a Postcard Project kit by Jen Kingwell, Bobbin Clips from Purple Hobbies and a Frixion Pen. There are so many fun things in this bundle that you can use in your sewing room!

10 year blogiversary at The Crafty Quilter! Time for a giveaway (or two).

The second giveaway is a Chenille-It Box. This is a subscription box that I received in December. It includes a Wonky Zig Zag Quilt pattern, 1/4 yard bundle of Petal Power by Me & My Sisters Design for Moda Fabric, a 3/8″ roll of Chenille-It, and a 5/8″ roll of Chenille-It. I know you’re wondering what Chenille-It is. It’s basically blooming bias that is used to add texture and design to a quilt. I can’t wait to try it!

I’ll have to do another blog post with a “now and then” theme (because things have changed a lot in 10 years!) If you want to see my very first tutorial, check out my Heart Sachet Tutorial from February 2012. It’s definitely not my best work, but it’s relevant for this time of year and it shows how my photography (and content) has improved.

Heart Sachet Tutorial at The Crafty Quilter

I’ve recently launched a newsletter and I would love it if you would sign up to receive it; I share more quilt-y news and bonus content there. Plus it’s a little less frequent than my blog posts, so I won’t fill up your inbox too much!

Thanks for visiting today and for all of your support. I can’t wait to share more tips and inspiration with you!

  4. I love, love, love your blog. I have been with you for a year and just wish I had the time to make everything that you share. I did make my five granddaughters the origami bags that you posted in November. They were so much fun to make. My husband had open heart surgery last April, so I made him your recent heart pattern as a mug rug. I alternated the fabrics in different solid colors and the black heart beat fabric. I hope that you will keep your bog forever. I enjoy reading about your family. God Bless

  5. Can’t remember! Think it was just after I binge watched your tutorials on A to Z for Ewe and Me, then recognized your name on a quilt class sample at The Granary. I must have said your name out loud in recognition and up you popped from behind the register!
It has been such fun following your blog and seeing you periodically at the Granary. Having relatives in Austin too also a fun connection.

  217. Congratulations. I can’t remember how long I’ve been following you, maybe five years, always enjoy your comments and remember specially the ones you made re the frixion pen which saved me much embarassment. I had to send a quilt to a cousin in Scotland (from Argentina) can you imagine her horror if she had opened the packet and seen all my scribbles prior to my free motion!!!! I put my intended gift in the freezer and yes, all the marks were there. Hence I quickly made her a lap quilt with chalk markings which would disappear, so thanks to your article, I only use frixion on gifts that will not travel by air!

  239. Probably at least 6 or 7 years ago. My daughter went into a quilt store where they had packaged the fabrics for one of your patterns. But I had to go online to download your free Christmas table runner that was checkered and had holly cut out on each end. I have since made 4 of those – 1 for Christmas for my daughter, 1 valentine, 1 St. Patrick, and 1 4th of July for me using the same pattern but with different rick racks on the end. I LOVE that pattern.
Thanks for all your great patterns. I even bought the valentine quilt pattern when I visited the store you work at about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, you had just left the store by the time I got up enough courage to talk to you.

  284. My childhood friend told me about you and your blog several years ago. I love receiving your emails and I’ve been a fan ever since.

  285. Hi Julie. Yes I really have become addicted to quilting mostly smaller things. You actually inspired me early on about 2 years ago with your smaller mug rug and lap quilts. It has grown from there and I’ve embarked on my longest and most difficult quilt so far. My youngest son and girlfriend took a 5 month trip around the uS for enjoyment and to choose a new home, leaving from their home in Charleston going west and stopping to visit family and friends. They have a roof nest on top if his Subaru and about the time they got to Kansas to see his brother my husband said, you should make a quilt of their travels. So I began in earnest. Embroidering each map state they went thru using instagram pictures to highlight their favorite actives. Each map is 8×8 and after embroidering I’ve attached it to an 11×11 light blue. I’ve finished 16 states to date and have about 10 more. Thankfully every state wasn’t choked full of activities like California and all the western states. Their goal was to visit as many national park as possible and when finished after visiting northwest and Chicago they chose Chicago to make their move. My goal is to finish by Easter. And take it to them. Thank you again for helping me thru your cool creative ideas to then come up with my own and make this quilt. I’ll send you some photos.

  286. Hi Julie, I don’t remember how long I have been following but I do know I have enjoyed all that you have shared! Thank you for keeping us entertained!

  288. I don’t remember how long I have followed your blog, but it’s been quite awhile. I get some ideas which I may or may not ever get done. Thanks for all you do. Grace

  289. Hello, Julie! I have subscribed to your blog for about 3 years. I love it and I get a happy look on my face when I see it hit my inbox! I read all of them and even save them in a folder so I can go back and catch up on things you have written about that I didn’t have time to try when I first read about them. You might like to know that you are the one and only quilting blog I subscribe to. I’ve read others from time to time but yours is the one that inspires me the most! I hope you are making it through this leg of the pandemic and the cold, cold weather we’ve had of late. I live in Michigan and, believe me, I am counting on spring already! Thanks for all you do to educate me and fill me with ideas. Have a wonderful day!
    Sarah

  290. Hi Julie, I’ve been following your blog and loving it for about six years now…just about as long as I’ve been quilting. Your tips and tutorials have helped me out more times than I can count. I was also fortunate enough to be able to enroll in your Zoom “possibilities” class last autumn, which was a lot of fun! I finished that quilt in time to send it off as a Christmas gift. It was a treat to take one of your classes, usually out of range for me here in NM. Congratulations and thanks for all your help and inspiration!

  291. I can’t remember exactly how many years I have been following your blogs, but I would say between 3-5 years. However long it has been, I always look forward to the next one.

  292. I can’t say for sure, but it’s been a long time. If you’ve been online for 10 years, I’d say it’s close to 8 or 9 years. I was very active in quilting then. I still have a pile of fabric, but at age 90 I’m slow with everything now. I still read your blogs.

  293. I have been following your blog for several years, maybe the whole time. I have always loved your Thankful Sunday collection of other ideas on quilting sites. It has always be important to me to look over all you send because I enjoy your taste in projects. Congratulations on these 10 years and pray for many more years to enjoy our blog.

  294. I’ve been enjoying your blog for a couple years now. Very helpful information, and I love your seasonal recommendations from such a wide variety of designers. Thank you!

  295. Hi Julie,

  297. I have been following you for about a year and love to see what new quilts you are making. I enjoy the blog and look forward to the patterns you post. Thanks.

  298. I don’t know how long exactly but I think at least 5 years. I’ve gotten several great projects from your blogs. Thank you.

  299. Hi Julie, I’m not sure I’ve been following you for your full 10 years but pretty close. I’ve made so many of your patterns – Patchwork Peter Rabbit, Woven Heart block (of which I made a table runner) and Nordic Table runner (which I made placemats) are among my favourites. And, your Maple Pecan Granola is so good I make a batch every few weeks to share between myself and my two grown children and their families. I enjoyed reading your “Pay it Forward” Sunday newsletter; there was always something I kept from them. Thank you for sharing your talents with the quilting/crafting community. Keep up your wonderful work. I look forward to reading your newsletter for many years.
