My Modern Tulip Table Runner made it to Fat Quarterly Ezine! A while ago, I saw a designer challenge being offering at Fat Quarterly and I jumped (well, pondered actually) at the chance to play. The challenge was to take a traditional block and make it modern.
Now, I’m more of a traditional kind of gal, but I was excited to give this a try. I decided to use solids from Marcus Brothers and lots of straight line quilting to make the tulip block into a modern table runner. I think it worked!
I made an extra block and used it for the back, so my table runner is reversible.
tried really hard got really lucky with the quilting lines matching up on the back.
You can find the entire tutorial plus lots of other great projects in Issue 13 of Fat Quarterly Ezine. Check it out here.
