Welcome to Sew Thankful Sunday!

Sew Thankful SundayLet me give you a little background on my Sew Thankful Sunday posts.  I have always loved the idea of “paying it forward” and “what goes around comes around”.  I am constantly visiting other blogs and I’m always amazed at all of the talent and passion that I see out there.  There is sew much to be thankful for!  Since I love sharing these new “finds” with you, I thought I could put these ideas together.  That’s how Sew Thankful Sunday was born.  My way of giving back to the quilting community and sharing great content with you at the same time!

So for today, I have eight goodies to share with you.

(Please note:  you can click on any image and it will open up a new tab to the associated link.)

1.  Katie from Good Golly Ginger has made the cutest Falling Leaf Block and she shares the tutorial with you – including paper piecing and how she turned her finished blocks into a circular table mat.  Perfect for the Fall season!

2.  It’s time for the 7th Annual Handmade Holidays Series at Sew Mama Sew!  This is a great way to get ideas for creating gifts for your loved ones.  This includes tutorials, recipes and printables, and I always look forward to seeing what they come up with!

3.  Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness has a new book coming out in a few days, Big-City Bags.  To celebrate, she is offering an all new, free bag pattern available only at the Sew Mama Sew Blog.  The Kennedy Bag Pattern is 20 pages of quality instruction in pdf format.  That really is sew sweet!

5.  Lorna from Sew Fresh Quilts recently shared a great tutorial for making mitered borders.  I was just teaching this method in a class yesterday and happy to see that Lorna uses the same technique that I do.  It works for me every time and Lorna does a great job of breaking it down for you.

6.  If you like to use spray starch in your quilting, you might be interested in making your own.  Kati at From the Blue Chair shares her recipe and method of making spray starch at home.  It might be worth a try!

7.  By now, you’ve probably heard of the Bloggers Quilt Festival going on at Amy’s Creative Side.  Twice a year, Amy hosts a virtual quilt show and she allows you to vote for your favorites!  Prizes are involved for those participating, including the voters.  It’s so inspiring and worth taking a look at.  Voting will be open until November 8.

  1. Well, I just stumbled upon your blog and am so glad I did! Therefore, I am sew thankful that I found you. What a great looking blog you have too. It’s so colorful that I will definitely be visiting here first on gray days …. but also on “regularly colored” days. Thanks for all your hints and pattern/tutorial sharing. Love how you share others’ blogs with us too. Now I have a bunch of back posts to go read. Hmmm, I think I will be bleary eyed by tonight.

  2. Thank you for sharing the many patterns, blog spots, websites, and now recipes. We give thanks during this month and I want to especially thank you!
