July UFO & WIP link up
It’s the last Saturday in July which means it’s time to show off your completed project for the 2019 UFO & WIP Challenge. There is a link up at the end of this blog post and one winner will be chose to win a prize package that includes a fat quarter bundle of Bee Backgrounds by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Fabrics, a Simple Folded Corners ruler and a small flower tin with flat-head pins – compliments of me and my stash! .
As for me and my July UFO & WIP challenge project, it’s still right where I left it. Table runner top, backing and batting ready for basting, quilting and binding. I just couldn’t get to it this month. Priorities change and that’s how it goes sometimes.
However, I have been making progress on my granddaughter, Amelia’s, busy book. She turned four a few days ago, and I wanted it finished for her birthday. Well, that deadline has passed, but we are going to visit in mid-August so that’s my final deadline. FINAL. I mean it.
So far I have semi-completed seven pages. There’s still a few finishing touches to add sto a few such as eyes for the lady bug and dinosaur, etc. I have a tic-tac-toe page, a Chicka-chicka-boom-boom page, a dinosaur page, a mitten page, a “button on the flower” page, an overalls clasp page, a ladybug zipper page, and a “spell your name” magnetic page. I will do a separate blog post all about the busy book once it’s completed. I still have to figure out how I want to “bind” all of the pages together, but here they are so far:
It’s definitely a work in process (WIP)! I’m going to make it so that you can add and remove pages as needed. So even when it’s completed, I can still create new pages for it.
I hope you all have had time to complete a UFO. Summer can be a time of busy-ness with vacation plans and house projects, or it can be a catch up time for fun and relaxation. It’s a little bit of both at our house! Let’s see what you’ve been busy with. Add your photo to the link up below to be entered into this month’s giveaway.

Those are such amazing pages! It’s going to be a fabulous book! I love the overalls!
This book will be cherished for years! So adorable!
Hi Julie, your book is just gorgeous, she’s a lucky girl to be getting that….worth the wait! We have had some extremely hot weather recently…too warm for sewing so my ufo projects have stopped up! Enjoy your long summer
Oh my gosh your book is SO CUTE! your grandbaby will love it! I prefer to always give a handmade gift! We just got back from a family vacation and my grandson loved the ocean. I picked up some beach fabric in a local quilt shop to make him a special pillowcase to treasure his first beach vacation and to look forward to annual vacay’s with grandma and grandpa and the rest of the family to the beach!!! 🙂 (and to take his pillowcase/pillow along)
Julie, your little book is just so adorable! I love the Osh Kosh overalls- so, so cute! The page with the letters and the page with the mitten, just the whole book is so special and precious. It is a treasure that she will hold close to her heart her entire life!
Love your blocks Julie, well done xx
Your busy book pages are just the cutest!!!!
I am loving Amelia’s busy book! The creativity is amazing! Can’t wait to hear more about it and if you have plans to publish a pattern (hint, hint!)
Julie, thanks for this monthly challenge… I sew look forward to it <3
I love your quiet book and look forward to make one myself.. after I read your tutorial.. or is this big enough a project to do a sew along… page a month or 2??!!!
I didn't finish my planned goal for the month either but shot off the chart in other areas so I am happy in the end… thanks for the linky party to celebrate!!
Julie, both of your projects are wonderful. Amelia’s busy book is just too cute!!
Julie, I have a question for you. In the July UFO & WIP challenge you mention the table runner you are making. May I ask where you got the pattern, or it’s name as I would like to do this same table runner. I am so far behind I will NEVER get caught up, but this will be a nice Christmas present thereby making me get it done! Jan
This is a wonderful busy book, Julie!
The quiet book I had for my children to use in church had rings on the inside. The individual pages had grommets, the rings went through the grommets. Your granddaughter will love the book!
Looking forward to your finalization of the busy book and the instructions. I have a GGD who is 18 months and she loves books. I’d like to make one just for her.
What a great idea! I’m definitely going to get started on one for my grandson!
Such an adorable and creative busy book Julie. You and your granddaughter will have so much fun using it!
That busy bag is adorable! I will be looking forward to more information on it.

Julie never does easy. This is really beautiful Julie. There is a ton of work in this little book but I also know you put a lot of love in every stitch. This is a wonderful gift for your little Granddaughter.
