November happenings
Hello friends. It’s been two weeks since I’ve last blogged, and November is almost half-way over! Maybe you feel me when I say “life can be overwhelming at times”. That’s where I’m at; it’s practically immobilizing. The good news is the sun still rises and I still love to create stuff. November happenings may be few but they’re still something.
BOM progress
I finished the quilt top for the Red & Cream Sampler by Fig Tree & Co. This BOM project has been fun, but I’m always glad when they finish up. The pattern is a traditional medallion-style quilt and originally made in red and cream fabrics. I chose blue and white for my quilt, and I love this monochromatic color scheme.
I added an extra border of navy blue because I didn’t like the idea of having white as my final border. It measures 78″ x 78″. Thankfully, I remembered to take one photo before bringing it to Carol for longarm quilting.
Looking forward
There are projects I need to finish and projects I’d love to dive into. I’ve wanted to create my own BOM for so long, but I can’t seem to get the ball rolling. Too many moving parts in my life right now, so I’ll just keep you posted on other quilt alongs and BOM’s that are coming up.
QAL’s
Speaking of quilt alongs, each year Jen Daly hosts a holiday quilt along. This year’s theme is “Twas The Night Before Christmas” and it starts on December 2, 2024 through December 23rd. It’s free for all and there’s no need to sign up.
Smaller projects
If you’re looking for a smaller project to complete before the holidays, check out my free Frosted Pines quilt block pattern from last year. You can turn this block into a pillow, a table runner, or any size quilt you desire. It’s very easy to make and will fit into your home décor for the entire winter season.
I love this Peppermint Snowball Candy Mat for showing off your favorite sweet things during the holidays. This is a great hostess gift. It’s also very easy and quick to make.
I can’t mention peppermint without including my Spicy Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe. I don’t know why, but my gang loves spicy things. This is a nice combination of sweet and a little spicy.
As the holidays approach, I hope you’re able to make time for yourself. Enjoy a good book or binge your favorite holiday movies. Maybe just play in your own creative space, whatever that looks like for you. I’m taking my own advice and just ordered a copy of Jenny Doan’s Quilting Through Life. It’s filled with personal stories as well as guidance for quilters to create their own legacy through quilts.
I’m looking forward to reading this one slowly as I sip some peppermint hot chocolate. It’s going to be a good weekend my friends!
