Quick projects
If shopping is not on your list of priorities, then you can definitely make something from what you already have! Below are some of my favorite, quick projects. They’re all free downloads, so choose a favorite and start sewing!
Folded Corner Pincushion
I love making something that I can start and finish in an afternoon. This Folded Corner Pincushion is one of those projects. The folded corners create a perfect pocket to hold Clover Wonder Clips or small notions such as bobbins and thimbles. Not only is it quick to make, it’s also a perfect gift for a sewing buddy. So now you’ll have to make two!
Scrappy Quilt Pattern
If you’re like me, you have an abundance of scraps. Put to them to use with my Scrappy Quilt Pattern and you might make a small dent in your inventory! This is a great quilt to make because it sews together fairly quickly. Although for me, it has become a long term project because I’m using it as a leaders and enders project. However you make it, this is one of those quilts that you’ll love to spend time on.
Blossom Quilt Block
Since it’s almost Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, this Blossom Quilt Block would be a perfect project to make. You’ll find ideas for turning one block into a mug rug or two blocks make a cute pillow. The free pattern has three block sizes to choose from.
Vinca Quilt Block & Table Runner
If I had to choose a favorite, I might choose my Vinca Quilt Block tutorial. It’s such a versatile, easy and cute quilt block! It started out as a Christmas tutorial, but turned into a more universal quilt block. I’ve made a single block, a table runner, a baby quilt, a Christmas quilt and two throw size quilts so far. There is also a full size pdf quilt pattern available to purchase in my Etsy Shop that includes four quilt sizes and detailed instructions.
Mug Rugs
I couldn’t pick just one to highlight, so I’ll link to them all here! I love making mug rugs; I think they’re perfect for gifts and they are fast projects to make. It’s like the entire quilt process is shrunk down into one tiny quilt!
I hope I’ve given you some ideas to celebrate National Quilting Day. If you’re not interested in starting a new project, you can always finish an old one! Most of us have unfinished projects (UFO’s) or works in progress (WIP’s) to work on. You could also organize and clean your sewing room. That’s always a step in the right direction. And if all else fails, you can just scroll through some of the shopping deals out there!
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy National Quilting Day!
